Hey Matt,
   As far as network setup, you probably want to
dedicate a router to your "techbox" IP address, and
put your Mandrake/FreeBSD boxes "behind" the router. 
Then, you run NAT somewhere (probably on the router). 
This way, when you "switch", you just update your NAT
settings.
