I tried d). 
My hosts file looks like:
//////////////////////
::1               localhost localhost.mpflea.com
127.0.0.1         localhost localhost.mpflea.com
208.185.250.89    mpflea.com
208.185.250.89    ns1.mpflea.com
//////////////////////
But there is still no response.

Would doing c) only mean changing to
hostname="ns1.mpflea.com" in rc.conf?
