Actually it may be a similar level of assurance if you just email me the key. Yes it could be modified in transit or whatever, but it's yet another channel I can cross-check with sources online. That would save a long commute to the East Bay and back. Also I'm reviewing https://thomaslevine.com/computing/general-computing/ to compare with the software I'm planning to use https://begriffs.com/posts/2017-05-17-openbsd-workstation-guide.html My own list is purely speculative at this point, haven't yet had to deal with the software decisions in it. I just last week took a video of me using my computer, and I will upload that eventually. For now here are some things related to your concerns. I use keynav for mouse. http://www.semicomplete.com/projects/keynav/ I wrote this to configure suckless software. https://thomaslevine.com/scm/sp/dir?ci=tip I have heard good very things about qutebrowser, and I keep meaning to set it up. I use w3m because its feature for external file handlers is well documented, or firefox. Nils Dagsson Moskopp told me that st and urxvt both implement unicode incorrectly. He recommended sakura, but I still use st. You may find his computing setup interesting too. http://news.dieweltistgarnichtso.net/about/computing.html You might like httrack. I use it frequently. Many of your choices match mine, and you have found many useful utilities that I want to try. Maybe I will eventually document my computing more completely, to parallel your description. Jaguarboard looks nice. -------------- next part -------------- You unfortunately missed a fun meeting. $ cat /etc/signify/openbsd-62-* untrusted comment: openbsd 6.2 base public key RWRVWzAMgtyg7g27STK1h1xA6RIwtjex6Vr5Y9q5SC5q5+b0GN4lLhfu untrusted comment: OpenBSD 6.2 firmware public key RWSbA8C2TPUQLi48EqHtg7Rx7KGDt6E/2d8OeJinGZPbpoqGRxA0N2oW untrusted comment: OpenBSD 6.2 packages public key RWRvEq+UPCq0VGI9ar7VMy+HYKDrOb4WS5JLhdUBiX3qvJgPQjyZSTxI untrusted comment: OpenBSD 6.2 syspatch public key RWRsbjD1ABhtm6joukOFHqdPYZFoICJUpM257ko69FpP/roGOts+TfXg The above keys match what I see here. https://www.openbsd.org/62.html From Michael.Paoli at cal.berkeley.edu Mon Feb 19 08:59:55 2018 From: Michael.Paoli at cal.berkeley.edu (Michael Paoli) Date: Mon, 19 Feb 2018 08:59:55 -0800 Subject: [buug] BALUG: meeting TOMORROW!: Tu 2018-02-20 discussion topics: md RAID, Meltdown/Spectre, ...; & other BALUG News Message-ID: <20180219085955.62571sddocae0uxw@webmail.rawbw.com> BALUG: meeting TOMORROW!: Tu 2018-02-20 discussion topics: md RAID, Meltdown/Spectre, ...; & other BALUG News ------------------------------ items, details further below: BALUG: meeting TOMORROW!: Tu 2018-02-20 discussion topics: md RAID Meltdown/Spectre/Speculative Execution, ... giveaways (Books/publications, CDs/DVDs, ...) help BALUG! :-) - volunteering, venue, ... Twitter https://twitter.com/#!/BALUG_org ------------------------------ For our 2018-02-20 BALUG meeting Meltdown/Spectre/Speculative Execution, ... At least presently, we don't have any particularly formal presentation lined up for this meeting, but we do have some suggested discussion topics: o md/mdadm/Multiple Device driver aka Linux Software RAID o Meltdown/Spectre/Speculative Execution If that sounds a bit similar to last month, well, it is ... we had so much additional/other exciting stuff happening last month https://lists.balug.org/pipermail/balug-talk/2018-February/000145.html https://lists.balug.org/pipermail/balug-talk/2018-February/000146.html we only partly made it to md/mdadm ... and didn't get to Meltdown/Spectre/... at all. In any case, feel free to also come and bring your own topics, questions, etc. Good discussions to be had! We also manage to sometimes secure/confirm a speaker too late for us to announce or fully publicize the speaker (that's happened at least twice in the past). Got questions, answers, and/or opinions? We typically have some expert(s) and/or relative expert(s) present to cover Linux and related topic areas. Want to hear some interesting discussions on Linux and other topics? Show up at the meeting, and feel free to bring an agenda if you wish. Want to help ensure BALUG has speakers/presentations lined up for future meetings? Help refer speakers to us and/or volunteer to be one of the speaker coordinators. Great food and people, and interesting conversations to be had. Please RSVP to rsvp at balug.org if you're planning to attend, and also note our revised RSVP policy further below. Meeting kicks off at 6:30 P.M. - we start with meet and greet and chat and such, then proceed with dining around 7:00 P.M. for dinner - please arrive before 7:00 P.M. if you want to join us for dinner. RSVP Please RSVP if you're planning to attend. To do so please e-mail us a note to rsvp at balug.org indicating meeting date. If you'll be bringing additional guest(s) please let us know total number of folks you're RSVPing for. Also please let us know any special requirements or concerns you may have (e.g. if you have any particular dietary considerations, so that we might possibly be able to accommodate you, or if you won't be dining with us but do wish to otherwise join our meeting). 6:30pm Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 2018-02-20 Henry's Hunan Restaurant 110 Natoma St. (between 2nd & New Montgomery) San Francisco, CA 94105-3704 1-415-546-4999 http://henryshunan.com/ Easy Transit/Parking Access: short walk from BART, MUNI, parking Trip planning: http://www.511.org/ Delicious Hunan cuisine and reasonably priced. For Henry's Hunan Restaurant, if folks are agreeable, we'll share and dine "family" style, and split up the costs, and typical cost per person including tax and tip (but not including beverages beyond complementary tea) would be in the $13.00 to $20.00 range, and commonly around $15.00 to $17.00. Cash may be preferred to ease splitting up the check. One can also specifically order the dish(es) one needs/prefers (e.g. for dietary considerations) - and we also commonly order some dish(es) that may meet various dietary considerations) (e.g. vegetarian, non-pork, ...).
