Leave Emacs out of this :-)  It is in fact very good at leveraging
existing tools.  That's why it is an OS, LOL.

I can see your point about encryption but unfortunately encryption
on the filesystem level is a chore compared to, say, GPG.  Mostly
because of agent type features.
